I see this journal hasn't been updated in a while, but I"m posting here anyway.

I'm writing to introduce the Pain and Pleasure House of Fun.  We have a great dungeon, some lovely, creative dommes and subs and the only thing missing is you.  We've been around Austin for years now and would like to have new people to play with.
Check us out and tell me what you think.

NLA-Dallas Announces Beyond Vanilla XVIII (BVXVIII)
NLA-Dallas is pleased to announce Beyond Vanilla XVIII. This annual event will be held September 26 through September 28 at the Sterling Hotel, in Dallas, Texas. Ms. Twisted will be the keynote speaker and be conducting workshops throughout the weekend.

Complete details and on-line registration can be found at the Beyond Vanilla website.

Beyond Vanilla is an educational and social weekend devoted to BDSM techniques and D/s relationships. Workshops geared towards novice and intermediate individuals are intermingled with social opportunities and lots of entertainment.

Beyond Vanilla is proud to host this year's National Leather Association Annual General Meeting. For more information please visit the NLA-I website. This year will be the 22nd Anniversary of the NLA-International. The meeting will have guest speakers from organizations such as NCSF, Sexual Freedom Network, and Leather Archives and Museum and more. The NLA-International awards will be given out this year as well and will encompass the Man and Woman of the Year, Chapter of the Year, Publications Awards and the Lifetime Achievement award winner will present a Key note address. Please join them as they celebrate anniversary and diversity.

Weekend registration is $75.00 through July 15 and then rises to $99.00. Registration at the door will be $110.00. Registered guests receive entry to all of the workshops and an event run pin. Commemorative T-Shirts and tickets for the Saturday Dinner Keynote are also available. Our Keynote address, offered by Ms. Twisted, will be an event not to be missed.

Volunteers are needed throughout the weekend and anyone agreeing to volunteer will receive a $30.00 rebate after completion of volunteer hours on Sunday.

Play party passes will only be on sale at the Registration Desk at the event. Registered guests and NLA-Dallas member may purchase tickets, but quantities are limited so be sure to shop early.

Beyond Vanilla XVIII will also feature:

* Vendor Mart, featuring kinky toys, leather goods and clothes as well as other items, will be open to the members of the public at least 18 years old.
* A Silent Auction to benefit Bryan's House will be held throughout the weekend.
* The International puppy and Trainer Conference (IPTC) will offer workshops and demonstrations for all those who love those "human" puppies. Registration for IPTC is included for all registered guests.
* The 4th Annual boy patrick Memorial Teeter-Totter-a-Thon, a marathon teeter-totter ride organized to raise money for Bryan's House. This annual event is a highlight of Beyond Vanilla and has raised over $4,000 to date. Anyone can help raise funds for this great charity, one up-and-down at a time.

We hope to see all our old friends and lots of new friends for this exciting and educational weekend. Be sure to sign-up early to take advantage of the discount rates.

Please feel free to cross-post to appropriate groups and lists.

Here goes..
I am new to Austin and I'm looking for a good group that has lots of workshops, etc. I have heard bad things about some groups and others... well, I haven't heard enough of anything.

Any suggestions? I am a Dom and would like a place that's open to ALL kinds of kink. I mean, I want an open-minded place where it wouldn't be shocking to see crossdressers and/or transgendered among the crowd, as well as the many other kinks around. Is that even possible??

Economic stimulus check
So our stimulus checks are coming in, and I thought I'd turn around and pump mine back into the economy by giving it to a hard-working local dominatrix.

I'm trying to find domme listings for the city of Austin but I'm not having any luck...do you know where I can a good listing or a few good dommes in this city?

Hello everyone.  I'm new to the community.  I just started a new live journal because my old one had to much bad juju along with it.  I'm 24 years old and have lived in/around Austin most of my life.  My boyfriend and I are relatively new to the lifestyle.  I've been to one Gwnn meeting a few years back and the only experience that he has is with me.

I guess I just wanted to say "hi" and I hope to learn more about the lifestyle.  I've been away from it quit a while (well, I wasn't really in it) and could use some info on maybe classes or meet ups around town where we could enlighten ourselves.

8:09 pm

I actually live in Los Angeles, but my sister lives in the Austin area and was seeking information on reliable, well-behaved, informative BDSM clubs/groups/organizations. She is very new to the scene and I am trying, long-distance, to help her find her way without any mishaps or bad experiences. Are there any useful emails, phone numbers or physical addresses that anyone here could pass along for her to contact regarding workshops, meet&greets, etc.? Her internet access is spotty at best, so avoiding that is best for her, but I'll take what I can get. That would be most helpful and much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

An Invitation to View Your History...
Please feel free to cross post to appropriate groups, lists and communities

This week, thanks to the sponsorship of NLA-Dallas and Beyond Vanilla, we are pleased to invite you to visit the John Thomas Gay/Lesbian Center on Brown and Reagan in Dallas to spend time looking through the Vi Johnson - Leather/Kink/BDSm Library - currently on display. There is no charge to view this wonderful collection.

Have you ever wondered what the 1st Drummer or Dungeon Magazines looked like? What was kink/BDSm literature like at the turn of the century? If so, you don't want to miss this opportunity to view the extensive collection Vi Johnson has brought to Dallas that includes, literature, books, displays, video, DVD, and much more.

Vi, a well respected elder of the community, noted author and lecturer is here in Dallas this week as the Keynote Speaker at Beyond Vanilla XVII being held at the Dallas Sterling Hotel September 28-30.. Her library will be on display at the hotel all weekend for those registered for the event. If you haven't registered yet for the event, there is still time to do so. Please see our website at www.beyondvanilla.org.

Don't miss the opportunity to see things that you might not have the opportunity to view again. This is like having part of what the Leather Archive and Museum in Chicago offers and more, right here in your own backyard. Allow yourself time to bask in a wonderful display of our collective history.

In Leather Heart and Spirit,

Master Z
Co-Director BV XVII
International Master 2004 with slaveboy tony

3rd Annual boy patrick chees Memorial Teeter-Totter-a-Thon (TTaT)

The organizers of the 3rd Annual boy patrick chees Memorial Teeter-Totter-a-Thon (TTaT) are pleased to announce this year's marathon teeter-totter ride will be held at the Sterling Hotel located on Highway 183 at Regal Row. The teeter-tottering will begin at Midnight on Friday, September 28 and continue non-stop for 24 hours before concluding at Midnight on Saturday, September 29. This event is once again being held in conjunction with NLA-Dallas' Pantheon Award winning event, Beyond Vanilla (www.BeyondVanilla.org).

All funds collected will again benefit Bryan's House (www.BryansHouse.org), Dallas' only special care facility for children and teens affected by HIV/AIDS. Collection points for monetary donations will be available on-site during the event at the Sterling Hotel or by an electronic method through the event website. The TTaT is open to the public and will be videocasted to allow viewing and participation from supporters across the World Wide Web!

Our previous year's fundraisers have allowed us to raise enough funds to provide nursing and medical supplies for almost year*.

We need your help this year. You can support the event in several ways:

Leading up to the event:

~With a monetary donation. A contribution of $100 provides milk for a week at Bryan's House*!
~With a donation of gift cards/certificates, gift baskets and/or other goods, which can be used as, raffle items to raise funds.
~Through donations of bottled water/sodas, snack foods and other items that can be provided as a reward for the time and involvement of the Teeter-Totter riders.

During the event:

~By taking the time to stop by and ride on the teeter-totter and encouraging your friends to do so also.
~Making a cash donation in person or through our online resource.

We need your help to make this year a success and hope you will join us in supporting Bryan's House, where families coping with HIV/AIDS, as well as other serious medical issues, find love and warmth when they have no place else to turn.

Every financial gift, large or small, makes a difference. Bryan's House depends on the community - our community, your community - for 70% of its funding. Please help us make their job a little easier and bring comfort and
security to the children it serves.

Please check our website often for additional information as it becomes available! http://www.TeeterTotteraThon.com

*Data is taken from the Bryan's House website

Please crosspost to appropriate groups or lists. Thank you.

bdsm books
i have read screw the roses and SM101, and i found them to be helpful introductions, but now i'm interested in finding more advanced material (preferably related to D/s stuff). i don't need to know how to tie knots or wield a whip or anything technical like that... does anybody know of any books that outline possible scene ideas or give more of a specific how-to approach?

would anybody want to review bdsm books they have read (whether or not it relates to what i'm specifically looking for)? i bet it'd be helpful to new people like me. thanks!
